Qantas launches new frequent flyer scheme
03 July 2008
Qantas has launched its new frequent flyer programme, allowing its 5m members to use points they have collected to book any seat on any Qantas or Jetstar flight.
The new scheme gives members a number of options for using their benefits, including the opportunity to combine points with a regular payment.
Another option is the Qantas and Jetstar 'any seat' award, which allows members to use points for any seat, including taxes and charges, on any flight with a QF or JQ number.
Simon Hickey, chief executive of the frequent flyer programme, said: 'These changes will establish the program as a world leader among loyalty programs in terms of the value it offers members and the breadth of product choices.'
Mr Hickey said that the changes had been made following consultation with regular travellers in Australia and New Zealand.
Qantas' frequent flyer scheme has been in operation for 21 years and is joined by more than 5,000 people every week.
Last year, scheme members redeemed points for more than 3m seats and will continue to do so this year in all classes covering more than 140 destinations in 38 countries.
