Bangkok wins world's top city award

Travel & Leisure magazine's annual reader survey has concluded with Bangkok winning the 'world's best city' award.
The capital of Thailand was ranked ahead of Buenos Aires, Cape Town, Sydney and Florence in the top five list, with Cuzco in Peru, Rome, New York, Istanbul and San Francisco rounding off the top ten.
Singapore Airlines added another award to its collection by taking the top international carrier prize, followed by Emirates, Thai Airways, Cathay Pacific and SilkAir.
Japan Airlines, All Nippon Airways and Virgin Atlantic also appeared in the top ten.
Travel & Leisure's readers gave the top hotel accolade to the Four Seasons resort in Hawaii, with the Oriental in Bangkok, the Hotel Bel Air in Los Angeles and Florida's Little Palm island resort also singled out for praise.
People looking for an island holiday would be guaranteed an enjoyable experience in the Galapagos Islands, according to the magazine poll, with Bali, Maui, Kauai and Tasmania also receiving positive reviews.
