New child safety scheme launched at Bristol airport
01 August 2008
A new safety initiative has been implemented at Bristol international airport with the aim of helping children who are separated from their families.
Parents can buy a coloured wristband for £1 and write their contact details inside in permanent ink before attaching it to their child's wrist.
All money raised from the initiative will be donated to Bristol Children's Hospital, BBC News reports.
It is thought that the safety scheme could prove particularly useful over the coming weeks as families embark on their travels during the school summer holiday period.
Alison Roberts of Bristol airport told the BBC: 'Thousands of families will pass through the airport during August.
'The wristbands will help reunite children with their parents should they get lost, whether it is on the beach or in the departure lounge.'
Bristol airport hosts flights from some major international carriers, such as Air France, Continental Airlines and Lufthansa, to popular holiday destinations including Nice, Malaga and New York.
Opodo cheap flights, hotels and car hire - let the journey begin!
