P&O Cruises offers 'record number' of European destinations
28 August 2008

P&O Cruises is expecting to carry more passengers from Australia to its record number of European destinations next year.

The company's 2009 programme will feature more than 65 destinations, ranging from the beaches of the Mediterranean to Norwegian glaciers and the historic cities of Russia.

Recent figures from the International Cruise Council Australasia show that Australian passenger numbers on European cruises increased by 67% in 2007, suggesting that P&O Cruises' future itineraries could prove popular with these customers.

Ann Sherry, CEO of Carnival Australia, which represents P&O Cruises UK, said one of the main benefits of cruising around Europe is the fact that it is relatively stress-free.

'On a cruise ship you can visit Europe's most fascinating cities, without all the hassles associated with changing hotels, and negotiating airports and train stations,' she said.

'And, of course, every night you can relax onboard as you enjoy great entertainment and dine in restaurants created by famous chefs such as Gary Rhodes and Marco Pierre White.'

P&O Cruises offers voyages on six ships – the new Ventura, the Oriana, the Aurora, the Oceana and the child-free Arcadia and Artemis.
