Range of exhibitions to open in Chicago
10 September 2008

Travellers planning autumn visits to Chicago will have no shortage of cultural events to keep them entertained as some of the city's museums prepare to open new exhibitions.

From 26 October until April next year, Chicago's Field Museum of Natural History will host an exhibition exploring Aztec culture.

This display will explore the fact that, in the space of 200 years, the Aztecs developed from a nomadic group to a hugely powerful society, which left a legacy that has endured to the modern day.

Those who are more interested in art than history should head to Chicago's Art Institute between 20 September and 4 January, when the gallery will be hosting an exhibition dedicated to Henri Cartier-Bresson.

To celebrate the centenary of the photographer's birth, the Institute will present a selection of Cartier-Bresson's pictures in comparison with the drawings, etchings and paintings of his contemporaries.

Holidaymakers who are in Chicago before 1 October will be able to visit the DuSable Museum of African-American History as it hosts an exhibition exploring the subject of Muslim life in America throughout the 20th century.
