BA launches new upgrade service
10 October 2008
British Airways (BA) has announced that its passengers now have the opportunity to buy upgrades on European and long-haul flights from London Heathrow as well as Gatwick.
One-way customers can pay an extra £100 to upgrade to Club Europe or a minimum of £180 to fly in the World Traveller Plus cabin on long-haul services.
Customers can upgrade their flight on the British Airways website prior to their flight and may also be sent an email inviting them to upgrade before travelling.
Robert Boyle, British Airways' commercial director, said: 'This offer is a fabulous way for customers who might want to treat themselves to an upgrade in the last few days before their holiday.
'It has been a hit at Gatwick so we want to offer the same level of luxury from Heathrow.'
Benefits of the Club Europe service include access to a suite of lounges at Terminal 5, which offer food and fine wines and a work and entertainment zone.
The World Traveller Plus cabin on long-haul services comprises up to 40 seats, which offer leg-room of 38 inches compared to 31 inches in the World Traveller cabin.
