Iberia to add extra transatlantic flight
15 October 2008

European travellers heading to the Central America region will soon have an extra flight with Spanish airline Iberia to carry them to Guatemala and Panama.

The carrier announced that it will launch Sunday flights to the Central American countries on 4 January to complement existing services on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

People looking to travel further in the region can use the flights to access connections to Nicaragua, Honduras and El Salvador with Iberia's local codeshare partners.

Iberia has developed a strong presence in the region, carrying 253,000 passengers between Central America and Europe in 2007, a 17.5% increase on 2006.

It is the only European carrier to offer daily flights between Costa Rica and Europe and the only European airline that has served Central America without interruption since 1971.

Iberia offers services to destinations all over the Americas from its base in Madrid, including Los Angeles, Buenos Aires and New York.
