Emirates completes move to Dubai Terminal 3
21 November 2008
Emirates has confirmed that it has moved 'lock, stock and barrel' to its new home at Dubai international airport's Terminal 3.
The airline said that its phased move to the new facility has been a success. By 18 November, some 500,000 passengers had flown from the terminal to locations on Emirates' six-continent, 101-destination network.
An equal number of travellers have arrived at Emirates' new base, which has facilities including 18 baggage carousels, premium lounges, concierge services, shops and restaurants.
Tim Clark, president of Emirates, said: 'Our operations at Emirates Terminal 3 have been an unmitigated success, thanks to a well-orchestrated, phased move and the unstinting support of our passengers.'
He added: 'Our customers are benefiting from the ease, convenience and luxury the new terminal represents and we are currently basking in their extremely positive and encouraging response.'
Paul Griffiths, chief executive of Dubai Airports, said the organisations involved with Dubai international have ambitions to make it not only the Middle East's busiest but the world's leading airport.
On 20 December, the duty-free section at Dubai international airport will celebrate its 25th anniversary by offering a 25% discount on a wide range of products.
