IHG to open new Emirates resort
26 November 2008

The InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has confirmed plans to build a new resort in Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

IHG reached an agreement with Abu Dhabi-based Seba Properties to develop the new property in Fujairah, which the company describes as 'one of the UAE's most attractive tourist destinations'.

The 291-room beachfront hotel will be IHG's first in the UAE and will be set against the backdrop of the Hajar mountains with views over the Indian Ocean.

Boasting a design combining contemporary aspects with traditional Arab influences, the hotel will offer facilities including retail outlets, a health club and a number of restaurants.

IHG chief executive Andrew Coslett said: 'Fujairah is an up-and-coming destination for both business and leisure travellers.

'InterContinental has been the leading hotel company in the Middle East for over 45 years and we look forward to opening what will be our first resort in the United Arab Emirates.'

The chain already has more than 65 hotels in the region, operating under brands including InterContinental, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn.
