Visitors invited to 'presidential Chicago'
26 November 2008

The Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau has urged holidaymakers to experience the 'presidential' appeal of the city of Chicago, which is the home of president-elect Barack Obama and his family.

According to the bureau, Chicago has been praised by experts as one of America's best food cities and boasts a number of the Obama family's favourite eateries.

Popular restaurants include Sepia, Topolobampo, which serves Mexican food, and RJ Grunts in Lincoln Park.

Chicago's Magnificent Mile is one of the city's best known shopping areas, while 57th Street Books in Hyde Park is reportedly a favourite with soon-to-be first lady Michelle Obama.

'The variety of titles, the programs for kids and the neighborhood feel make it a wonderful place to take a walk to and browse around,' she told the Chicago Sun-Times.

The Illinois city also boasts natural attractions, including a popular lakefront area, and cultural highlights such as Grant Park, the Art Institute of Chicago and the Field Museum of Natural History.
