Strike could hit Eurostar services

People planning to travel with Eurostar before Christmas could see their plans disrupted by a strike by some of the rail operator's workers.
It was announced that train managers belonging to RMT and TSSA, Britain's two biggest rail unions, voted heavily in favour of industrial action after the company imposed new rosters.
The unions claim that Eurostar contravened an agreement that any changes in shift patterns should be discussed with a worker representative first.
RMT general secretary Bob Crow said: 'Our members have told the company very clearly that imposing unfair and unequal rosters is no way to reward staff who did all they could to help Eurostar get back to normal after the recent Channel Tunnel fire.'
Gerry Doherty, general secretary of TSSA, added: 'All our members want is for weekend duties to be shared equally among train managers on both sides of the Channel.'
Any suspension in Eurostar's services to Lille, Paris, Brussels or its other European destinations could see travellers using airlines that offer flights to these cities, such as Air France, Brussels Airlines or Flybe.
