World cup fans to camp and stay in living rooms
08 March 2006
As German hotels fill up for the World Cup two new options have opened up for fans heading to take part in the international festival of football this summer.
In Dortmund the city's trade-fair halls are opening up as massive camps offering accommodation at 35 a night and transport to local stadia.
The indoor camp will include a men's area, a women's area and one for couples.
With Japan, Brazil, Trinidad & Tobago and Poland all playing in the group stages in Dortmund, an international party atmosphere should take over the halls and entertainment is being laid on.
For those who want somewhere a little less communal to stay, German families are opening their homes to welcome guests.
Currently there are 7,000 rooms on offer and all profits made by the service, run by Berlin-based firm ImmobilienScout24, will go to the foundation for young soccer players headed by German trainer Jurgen Klinsmann.
