Isle of Man set for cheaper flights
15 March 2006
The Isle of Man could see more visitors as the government has cut charges at the island's Ronaldsway Airport.
More cheap flights to and from the island are anticipated and budget airline EuroManx has already lowered fares on two new routes, Isle of Man Today reports.
Single fares to the island from London's City Airport have been slashed from £53 to £49 while prices on its Belfast service have dropped from £49 to £45.
Spurred on by the Department of Transport's (DoT) decision to cut airport charges by up to 30 per cent, EuroManx are to review prices on its other routes, with reductions likely.
"We feel it is now our duty to follow the precedent set by the DoT and reduce our fares," confirmed sales and marketing manager Seamus Byrne.
It is hoped that more cheap flights will foster growth at the airport, as passenger numbers have grown by just one per cent in January in comparison to the double-digit growth experienced by other regional hubs.
Aer Arran, Eastern Airways and Flybe are among the budget airlines offering flights to the airline.
