Icelandic phallic fun
20 March 2006

Iceland is famous for its great stark landscape and superb nightlife in the capital Reykjavik, but for a trip that is likely to put a smile on your face would be to the Icelandic Phallological Museum.

The museum is colloquially known as the Penis Museum and is the world's first.

The collection boasts of over 100 penises and penile parts belonging to land and sea mammals that can be found in Iceland, including specimens from whales, seals, walruses and a polar bear.

Many members are mounted erect on the walls of the museum making marvellous photo opportunities.

For a more traditional glimpse of Icelandic culture the Reykjavik Arts Festival runs from May 12th to June 2nd.

Many different types of music and performances from Iceland and around the world take place, with Icelandic music, jazz, Brazilian dance and French opera among the long line up.
