Air Tahiti increases service
27 March 2006
Flights to and from the South Pacific island of Tahiti have tripled in number after Air Tahiti Nui began a third weekly flight from Australia yesterday.
Every Wednesday, Friday and now every Sunday morning at 0915 local time, Flight TN4 will leave Sydney International Airport, arriving in Papeete seven hours later.
The flights, which use the A340 aircraft, will then call at Los Angeles or New York, before flying on to Paris.
Craig Lee, Air Tahiti Nui's regional director for Australia, said the new flight introduced 'the attractive possibility for Australians to take short break holidays in Tahiti'.
'As the international airline of Tahiti, our mission is to develop tourism and trade from key world markets to Tahiti & Her Islands, to provide a high-quality airline for the people of French Polynesia, and to become the first choice of travelers on the routes that we fly,' Air Tahiti's website states.
Air Tahiti was formed in 1998, with the government of French Polynesia being its chief investors.
