BA launches flights to Salzburg
03 April 2006
British Airways (BA) has launched a new service which will see the carrier flying direct from London to Salzburg.
Operating five times a week, the new service is likely to prove particularly attractive to skiers and snowboarders, as the region ahs increased in popularity with UK travellers in recent years.
According to a recent study carried out on behalf of the Austrian National Tourist Office, the number of UK skiers travelling to the country has increased by ten per cent in the last year alone.
BA is looking to capitalise on this popularity and as such is scheduling the new service from London's Gatwick airport to Salzburg's rapidly-expanding airport.
Flights will begin this December, in time to catch those travellers on winter getaways looking to enjoy the slopes that Austria has to offer.
Austria is already anticipating record visitor numbers for the 2005/06 season due to the constant snow cover which has attracted a growing number of winter sports enthusiasts over the course of the year.
