Qatar Airways launches new flights to Doha
11 April 2006
Qatar Airways is to launch new flights from London Heathrow and Manchester to the Qatar capital Doha.
The airline is introducing a third daily flight between Heathrow and Doha and the service from Manchester will now run daily.
This means the airline now runs 35 flights from the UK to Doha weekly an increase of 35 per cent.
Qatar Airways chief executive Akbar Al Baker said: 'This is excellent news for the travelling public. More flights mean greater choice.
'Qatar Airways has been looking forward to adding capacity across the UK, but in particular London Heathrow, which is our flagship route.'
Doha's profile as a major destination in the Middle East has increased in recent years by hosting World Trade Organisation negotiations.
This year the city will also be the focus of the world's attention when it holds the 15th Asian Games, taking place form 1 to 15 December, with representatives from over 40 nations competing in 39 sports.
