bmi flies daily to Mumbai
20 April 2006
bmi has started daily flights to the Indian city Mumbai from Heathrow.
The service originally started last year with four flights a week but due to popularity, flights will now be daily.
bmi chief executive Nigel Turner said: 'Just one year ago, the Mumbai route entered the bmi history books by becoming our first ever long haul route from London Heathrow and we have been thoroughly encouraged by this very positive start.
'As we increase our operation to a daily service, we will further establish our presence and reputation in the Indian market whilst at the same time enhance our long haul profile at London Heathrow.'
Mumbai - the world's fourth most populous city - is increasingly being visited not only as a base for trips around India but also as a destination in its own right.
The city is India's centre for finance and its movie industry Bollywood. Mumbai is also home to several museums and art galleries that give insight into the city's past and its fast-paced present.
