Copenhagen Airport creates space for women
24 May 2006

Copenhagen Airport has responded to the growth in female fliers by creating a bar for women.

The number of women using the airport and travelling to and from Copenhagen has increased by 50% over the last four years and the new bar hopes to reflect their needs.

The bar named Asta after the Danish film star Asta Nielsen - welcomes men but its design and menu of food and drinks are aimed at the female market.

Copenhagen Airport vice president Henrik Busch said: 'Today's women travel a lot. Three to four years ago, just over a third of the airport's passengers were women; today they account for close to half our passengers.

'They demand different products and environments than men, and we would like to meet those demands. Therefore, we are now launching a unique concept: an airport bar for women.'

The bar - built in marble and smoked oak - serves small desserts, soups, salads, wines and mineral waters tailored towards female tastes.
