French Bastilles

Through France on 14 July, Bastille Day is celebrated with parties, fireworks and a few renditions of La Marseillaise.
With the Bastille being stormed in Paris, some of the biggest celebrations are reserved for the capital.
Along the Champs-Elysees, a military parade takes place before the French president and throughout the city smaller events can be found. However, central fireworks displays on 13 and 14 July make most eyes turn to the skies around the Eiffel Tower come the evening.
In main squares in towns and villages across France, although the size of displays may be smaller, the fervour is just as strong and the welcome for visitors stronger.
This year also sees the national holiday fall on a Friday, so all of France will be taking a long weekend and the celebrations should last a lot longer into the night.
