New station speeds access to Liverpool airport
08 June 2006
The Liverpool South Parkway (LSP) interchange will open this Sunday (11 June) and bringing faster connections to Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
The multi-million pound project involved the merging of two stations, so more train services will come together at one point and passengers travelling from around the north of England and the midlands will be able to head to the airport far more easily.
From LSP, a shuttle bus to the airport will run 24 hours a day, further aiding travellers flying from Liverpool.
The new station is just part of the massive investment Liverpool is receiving in part due to the fact the city will be the European Capital of Culture for 2008.
Before 2008, the city will be showing off its cultural credentials this September with the fourth Liverpool Biennial.
The Biennial will see hundreds of the world's best visual artists show their works at 40 locations in the city centre form galleries to public spaces over ten weeks.
Highlights include an exhibition curated by Tracey Emin, Panamanian bus painters transforming Liverpool's public transport and work by Britain's most promising young artists.
