Brad Pitt eyes Dominican Republic home
09 June 2006
Brad Pitt is looking to buy a holiday home for his new family in the Dominican Republic.
Pitt and girlfriend Angelina Jolie are currently in Namibia, where their daughter was born, but the actor is considering a holiday base for the family nearer to the US.
Pitt first went to the Dominican Republic while shooting Robert De Niro's The Good Shepherd, alongside Jolie, Alec Baldwin and Matt Damon, and it is reported he is focusing his search to the north of the island.
"He fell in love with it and decided he wanted to have a house there to take breaks," a source told the Sun.
The Dominican Republic takes up two thirds of the island of Hispaniola which lies east of Cuba and Jamaica in the Caribbean.
The north of the country - between the coast and the island's mountains - offers sandy beaches and nearby forests.
One popular attraction in the north of the country is Manati Park, which stands out from usual wildlife parks as visitors are encouraged to get close to the animals with swimming with dolphins and snake and lizard handling part of the attractions.
However, most people including Pitt are attracted to the Dominican Republic by the friendly people and beautiful nature.
