Wickerman rocks in Scotland
12 June 2006

The Wickerman festival takes a classic 1970s horror film and creates one of Scotland's most original music festivals.

From 21 to 22 July artists - including chart-topper Sandi Thom, 60s greats The Animals and New Model Army - will play on two main stages, but the climax of the festival will come as now surprise to those who have seen the film.

A giant wooden effigy of a man is burnt, although unlike the film there will no person inside.

Despite the fiery end to the festival - located at East Kirkcarswell, near Dundrennan, in south west Scotland it is billed as a family event, with special areas for children and an acoustic village for parents to chill out in.

Wickerman, now in its fourth year, will also be home to six tents offering a range of musical genres, from world music to psychedelia.
