A Lot more e-tickets
12 June 2006

Polish airline Lot is extending its e-ticketing service.

The airline has already started on its programme of introducing ticketless flights and the services currently covers 16 international destinations - including London, New York, Chicago and Paris - and all Polish domestic flights.

Electronic ticketing will now be introduced to all Scandinavian and Benelux destinations and to Budapest and Toronto.

A Lot spokesman said: 'The etix is a convenient and safe ticket. It is also inexpensive, both for the passenger and the airline. With simplified and faster passenger service, it therefore means lower costs.'

Instead of a traditional ticket passengers, after buying a ticket, are just provided with confirmation of the transaction and the ticket number. Arriving at the airport they provide ID and the confirmation instead of the ticket.

As a part of the switch to e-ticketing the airline has launched a new website and has started selling tickets at shopping malls around Poland from computer terminals to show how the technology works.
