Gatwick Express named top UK rail service

A survey of 50,000 rail passengers has named Gatwick Express Britain's best train service.
The service into Gatwick achieved overall satisfaction levels of 94%, narrowly beating Heathrow Express by 4% and improving on last year's score by 1%.
Andrew Conroy, Head of Customer Service at Gatwick Express, told Travel Daily News: 'It is now an old-fashioned and out-of-date cliché to laugh at this country's rail network the standards we set at Gatwick Express, and those against which we are independently measured, are as high as anywhere in the world.'
Those interviewed by Passenger Focus noted the train service to London's second airport was especially good for its reliable transport links and efficient check-in and security checks.
Mr Conroy explained that the high rating was largely down to the staff.
He said: 'We have a world class relationship with our employees and it is through the staff at Gatwick Express that such outstanding customer service is delivered.'
