Flemish bargains outside
15 June 2006

One of Belgium's largest antique markets takes place this summer in Bruges.

On 2 July and 6 August, the Koning Albertpark hosts the West Bruges Antique Market - massive event where the line between antiques fair and flea market can become a little blurred.

With many people in the surrounding area coming to sell goods and hundreds of stalls, among all the items some unique bargains can be found.

Visitors are advised to head to the site early with the doors opening a 7am as many of the best pieces are traditionally found and bought early, with stall holders often buying off each other and trying to resell goods at a profit.

The historic centre of Bruges listed as a Unesco World Heritage Site with its cobbled streets has earned a reputation as one of the best places to head in Belgium.

Much of the city's medieval architectural is still intact attracting many visitors, while the squares and canals offer somewhere to relax in and enjoy a little peace.
