BA ups winter flights to Bermuda
30 June 2006

British Airways (BA) is to increase the number of flights to Bermuda during the winter.

When the summer schedule of daily flights comes to an end in October, the airline will run five flights a week to the islands, following the growth in public demand.

BA's Americas executive vice president Robin Hayes told the Royal Gazette: 'This increased winter schedule, which is a commitment of more than 2,200 seats a week between Bermuda and London, underscores the importance of the route for British Airways.'

Figures from the Bermuda Tourist Office now show visitor numbers to the islands in the first five months of the year were up 18%.

Glenn Bean, director of sales and marketing at the New York office, said: 'This is a very exciting time for Bermuda.

'It's not hit its full stride just yet but we are just taking off. I think the figures speak for themselves people are getting excited about the travel industry again.'
