More flights on time

The punctuality of flights in the UK has improved in the first three months of the year.

Figures from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) of the UK's ten major airports showed a slight improvement of 1% with 74% of flights on time.

Edinburgh Airport experienced the best improvements with 79% of flights on time an increase of 6%.

Average delays faced by passengers fell from 15 minutes a year ago to 14 minutes.

Destinations that were most likely to result in a delay were Istanbul, Mumbai, Toronto, Madrid and New York JFK with average delays over 20 minutes and just 65% of flights on time.

The five destinations that passengers were most likely to be flying on time to were Amsterdam, Edinburgh, Dublin, Heathrow and Paris Charles de Gaulle.
