Nudes celebrate 75 years of holidays
10 July 2006

American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR) is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year.

As part of the anniversary, this week (10 to 16 July) is Nude Recreation Week which aims to highlight interesting naturist travel destinations around the world and the association estimates around 50,000 of its members will be taking part

An AANR spokesman said: "Travelling to clothes-free destinations means you can pack less and relax more. A towel, your favourite sun block, and sunglasses are all you're likely to need most days. Stash something in your duffle bag to don if weather turns cool or you need to make a quick trip into town."

Mary Clare, the owner of one US nudist hotel, explained why going bare is not as intimidating as some might think.

She said: 'Women are more intimidated by nude sunbathing at first, but ultimately they love it because they love the sense of freedom.

'Guests always end up nude sunbathing here because of our safe environment. Women really appreciate it that we think of their feelings and wellbeing and allow them to go nude sunbathing when they are ready.'
