Airport parking dearer than flights
11 July 2006

Brits jetting off abroad are facing some of the highest airport parking fees in the world.

Research for the Sunday Mirror reveals parking at Heathrow can cost as much as £223 for two weeks in a long-stay car park, although discounts can be found by booking in advance and online.

With the rise of many low cost air fares, parking is becoming one of the most expensive elements of a holiday, even with reductions.

As a response to the high costs of parking and environmental concerns, a number of rail links are being planned to airports and existing links are being upgraded.

New lines are planned to Belfast, Glasgow and Edinburgh airports and Liverpool John Lennon has just received a boost with the opening of a new rail interchange nearby.
