bmi to fly to Moscow
12 July 2006
bmi is to start flights from Heathrow to Moscow Domodedovo.
The new route in partnership with Russian airline Transaero will start on 29 October and was made possible after negotiations between the UK and Russian Federation governments forged a new deal over flights.
Nigel Turner, chief executive officer of bmi said: 'We have concluded a very constructive and mutually beneficial agreement with Transaero. This will allow us to enter an entirely new market and develop further our growing route network from Heathrow.
'We are determined to deliver to this market the best possible value for money, through the fares that they pay and the level of service they receive.'
The airline also recently received a boost when Civil Aviation Authority statistics showed it to be the most punctual scheduled carrier from London Heathrow in the first quarter of 2006.
Eighty per cent of its flights were on time and the average delay was nine minutes.
Mr Turner commented: 'We know that punctuality is of great importance to travellers, particularly those with business commitments, and have worked hard to ensure that our operations are timely and efficient.
'As a result we are delighted to see that the latest figures reflect the dedication shown by all our staff.'
