Minister pushes for better service in Grenada
21 July 2006
Grenada's minister for tourism is pushing for businesses on the island to improve the quality of their service.
It is hoped by improving services and the welcome to tourists heading to the Caribbean island, Grenada will be able to set itself apart from other rivals.
Tourism minister Brenda Hood told a business forum that by improving service they could gain a competitive edge, reports eTN.
She said: 'It is much easier to keep an existing customer than to win new ones.'
The minister added that with the introduction of the Caricom Single Market, the Caribbean single market visitor numbers from within and without the Caribbean should increase.
The number of visitors to Grenada this summer is also set to increase with the 25th Grenada Carnival, which takes place on 14 and 15 August.
However, preparations have already started with the opening of various calypso tents over the island, where locals and visitors compete to win the chance to perform on the carnival main stage in the national stadium
The carnival itself known as Spice Mas starts with the arrival of the carnival devils the night before but daylight brings music, brightly coloured costumes and parades all over the island for two days of partying.
Hopefully under the advice of Ms Hood, the party will be running better than ever with top service for visitors.
