Technology comes on holiday

Taking technology to stay in contact while on holiday is becoming increasingly popular and a priority for many travellers.
The Voice of the Traveller survey by the Travel Industry Association (TIA) shows 86% of people now take their mobile phones on holiday along with their sunglasses and flip-flops.
A quarter of travellers are also taking their laptops with them taking advantage of Wi-Fi hotspots to keep in touch with the world and be contactable.
The survey showed one in five travellers logged on while away to keep in contact with family and friends or find out more about their destination. Fifteen per cent choose accommodation specifically where they knew they could get Wi-Fi access.
Dr Suzanne Cook, of the TIA, said: 'In this day and age of PDAs, digital cameras, wireless and high-speed internet access, travellers can share their experiences and photos as they happen instead of waiting until they return from vacation.
'The down side is that we can, or have to, also stay in touch with the office.'
It was also revealed one in ten tourists like to keep in touch with the office while away and 6% like to do work while away.
The most common gadgets to take on holiday behind a mobile phone was a digital camera, followed by a laptop, CD player and MP3 player.
