A Lot of precision
31 July 2006
A pilot for the Polish airline Lot has won the world title for precision flying.
At the 17th World Precision Flying Championship in Troyes, France, Krzysztof Wieczorek took the overall title after proving his skills at landing and navigation.
The tournament was a good result for Polish pilots, individually winning gold, silver and bronze and the team competition gold ahead of the Czech Republic and France in second and third.
Precision landing is measured with electronic equipment to gauge how close the pilots can bring their planes to a certain target and in the air Mr Wieczorek was monitored to see how well he could follow a given course.
The gold at the championship adds to the Polish pilot's haul of medals which already includes seven gold, five silver and two bronze medals at world and European contests.
Mr Wieczorek's flying abilities will no doubt come as a boost to those flying with Lot.
