Hawaii named top honeymoon destination
02 August 2006
A survey of brides-to-be has shown Hawaii is the number one dream honeymoon destination.
Modern Bride magazine polled 6,000 US women preparing to head down the aisle and found the perfect destinations for a honeymoon were Hawaii, Mexico and Florida.
The most popular activity for a honeymoon, voted for by 50%, was simply relaxing by the beach with a cocktail.
Twenty-tree per cent said they would opt for a cruise and 13% dreamt of touring the countryside popping between B&Bs.
The preferred month for a honeymoon was August and 85% wanted to take between two weeks and a month off.
The survey also showed one in ten did not want to be alone for a honeymoon and thought about inviting friends and family along with them, believing 'the more the merrier'.
Amy Ziff, who recently got married and helped to carry out the poll, said: 'I know firsthand what a bride struggles with in thinking about, planning and taking her honeymoon.
'Whether booking on your own or through a travel agent, go over the itinerary with a fine toothed comb. Book at a reputable hotel and read customer reviews to make sure it's suitable.'
