Cruz touch to come to Cordoba
08 August 2006

A new film starring Penelope Cruz set in Andalusia is expected to boost tourism in southern Spain.

Cruz will star along side Oscar-winner Adrien Brody in Manolete a romance set in 1940s Spain - which features locations around the town of Cordoba and across the region of Andalusia.

Although the film has just finished shooting the regional tourism body has already produced a Manolete map highlighting areas used in the movie as locations, reports Hello! magazine.

It is hoped the film will provide the same boost to tourism that Cruz's Captain Corelli's Mandolin did for the Greek island of Kefalonia.

The film tells the story of the real-life bullfighter Manuel Laureano Rodriguez Sanchez, played by Brody, who rose to fame in the 1930s and his reminiscences of his life and loves.

Other towns featured in the film, and the Manolete visitor guide, include Puerto Santa Maria and Sanlucar de Barrameda.

Manolete is expected to be released in March 2007.
