Britons are taking more and dearer gadgets on holiday with them than ever before.
As technology increasingly becomes a part of people's everyday life, so travellers wish to take gadgets on holiday with them.
New research shows 75% of holidaymakers take a digital camera or mobile phone on holiday with them and 30% take camcorders to recorder all the action.
One in ten - desperate to escape any boredom on the beach take portable games consoles.
Jacky Brown, of esure, which carried out the research, said: 'When people pack for their holidays they often cram their hand luggage full - of high value gadgets - probably not thinking twice about the total cost to replace them if they were lost, damaged or stolen.
'With prices of hi-tech gadgets continuing to rise and technology developing so swiftly, it's crucial for people not to lower their guard whilst on holiday and only take necessities with them.'
She went on to give some tips to avoid the loss of some items.
Travellers are advised to make sure baggage including hand luggage is locked at all times and holidaymakers are dissuaded from using designer bags as they are more easily targeted by thieves.
People should, of course, not leave valuable unattended bags in bars or on the beach and it is a good idea to use a waterproof case for cameras or mobile phones.
