Scissor Sisters play free London gig
18 August 2006
New York pop act Scissor Sisters are to perform a free concert in London's Trafalgar Square.
The Filthy/Gorgeous glam rock band will be on stage on 16 September for a concert that will raise money for the Global Fund, which helps in the fight against aids, TB and malaria.
Tickets will be allocated via an online and SMS draw although the band wants everyone who wins the chance to go to "dress in your finest red threads to celebrate".
However, those dressing up will be helped out a little as 10,000 feather boas and Trilby hats have been ordered to help the crowd glam up.
Scissor Sisters bassist Babydaddy, aka Scott Hoffman, explained why the band chose to play in London.
He said: 'London is our spiritual home and the UK gave us our first and longest-lasting embrace.'
In total, just 4,500 pairs of tickets will be made available and details of the draw can be found on the band's website.
