Stones get satisfaction in London
22 August 2006
The Rolling Stones have rocked into London on their 15-month world tour.
The Bigger Bang tour came to Twickenham rugby ground this weekend a short distance from where the band's first ever gig was held in 1963 in Richmond's Railway Tavern - and will move on to UK dates in Glasgow, Sheffield and Cardiff later in August.
For fans who have missed the chance to catch the tour it continues until November taking in stadiums across the US and Canada.
The final date of the disaster-prone tour which has seen shows cancelled due to guitarist Keith Richards falling out a tree in Fiji and Mick Jagger getting laryngitis will be at Los Angeles's Dodger Stadium.
Other cities still to welcome a show from the Stones include Las Vegas, New York, Chicago and Boston.
Despite the band having a combined age of 250 years, fans are advised to book tickets early.
Since the tour kicked off last August in Toronto it is estimated the Rolling Stones have played to over 4.5m fans.
The number of fans who get to enjoy the band could increase as it is rumoured the Bigger Bang tour will not end in Los Angeles, but could continue to take in Latin America and India.
