Austrian offers Viennese delicacies
23 August 2006

Austrian Airlines is to upgrade its on-board culinary service.

Passengers on long-haul flights are to be offered service inspired by the Viennese coffee houses in business class.

Eleven Austrian coffee variations will be offered with desserts.

The on-board professional chef service with six gourmet menus to choose from, which is only currently available on intercontinental flights in the Boeing fleet, will be extended to cover the airline's Airbus planes.

Chefs will now be flying on all the airline's long-haul services adding last minute touches to pre-prepared dishes.

Austrian chief executive Alfred Ötsch said: 'Flying Austrian now provides our guests with a feeling of well-being in every sense, and is a unique travel experience.

'In future, I want to underline the charm and hospitality of Austrian culture, with unmistakeable accents for the individual comfort of our customers.'
