Heathrow tube station to reopen
08 September 2006

The journey for passengers heading to Heathrow Terminal 4 is set to become easier with the reopening of the Piccadilly Line.

The section of the line heading to Terminal 4 has been closed for nearly 20 months as the tube line was extended to the new Terminal 5, which is currently under construction.

The Heathrow Terminal 4 station will reopen to passengers on Sunday 17 September after being closed since January 2005.

An extensive poster and leaflet campaign will be run to inform passengers about the reopening, but the shuttle bus service that replaced the tube over the last 20 months will remain for a week to allow a smooth transition.

Terminal 5 is expected to open in 2008 and will be able to allow an extra 30m passengers a year fly from Heathrow.
