BWIA becomes Caribbean Airlines

BWIA West Indies Airways is to become Caribbean Airlines.
The new airline will start flying from early 2007 when BWIA will stop services.
The change comes as the government of Trinidad and Tobago the majority shareholder of the airline has accepted a capital injection to create a new regional airline.
Caribbean's chief executive Peter Davies explained the investment would allow the airline to serve the whole region as well as the needs of Trinidad and Tobago.
He said: 'We are looking to the 21st century whilst being empathic to our historical past; determination, passion and focus will allow us to build a future and respond honourably to the loyalty that customers have demonstrated over the years.'
All tickets bought for BWIA will be valid on Caribbean flights. The change over between the two airlines will also be managed so there is an uninterrupted service.
