Bahrain aims to tempt families
22 September 2006

The Middle East islands of Bahrain are to encourage more families to visit.

A new tourism project on the western coast of Bahrain will see a leisure and entertainment centre established close to the Al-Jazaair Plage beach.

Dr Zakaria Hejres, deputy chief of Bahrain's economic development board, said the project would "provide high quality tourism services that make the Kingdom a stand-out visitor destination".

It is hoped the new centre will offer new facilities for both the tourists and Bahraini residents.

Bahrain, the smallest Arab nation, lies just 30 miles off the coast of Saudi Arabia and has done much in recent years to encourage more visitors, even establishing a grand prix race.

Current tourist attractions on the 33 islands of Bahrain range from its racecourse and golf courses to the soukhs, temples, forts and the archaeological sites dating back over 4,500 years.
