Cathay Pacific unveils new seats
26 September 2006

Cathay Pacific is to introduce new seating in all classes for its long-haul services.

The new seats were unveiled as a part of the airline's 60th anniversary celebrations and will be bigger, wider and more comfortable.

A spokesman for the airline said: 'We have worked with leading transportation design consultants to create an environment that is natural, soothing and exceptionally well appointed.

'Inspired by the textures of timber, bamboo, stone and water, our new opulent surroundings are supported by the latest materials and cutting-edge technology.'

In economy class, a new mechanism for reclining will allow the seat cushion to move forward, allowing passengers to lie back further.

There will also be wider video screens.

First class passengers will have the largest bed offered by an airline and in business class fewer seats will allow for more space.

The new seats will start to be rolled out from January next year.
