Madonna in Malawi
09 October 2006
Madonna and her film director husband Guy Ritchie are currently visiting the small African nation of Malawi.
The superstar couple are in the country to carry out work designed to help orphans.
The Malawian people are hopeful that the visit of Madonna and Guy will put their country on the map in much the same way that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie increased interest in Namibia.
In the last 12 months the country has seen its tourism industry grow, but recent advances could be dwarfed by the potential interest created by the celebrity couple's presence.
Malawi is considered to be one of the undiscovered gems of Africa and many of its beautiful natural sites remain untouched.
The country is home to the tallest mountain in central Africa and has a number of fantastic beauty spots.
