Thais target Scandinavia
26 October 2006
Tourism officials in Thailand are planning to target the Scandinavian market in order to boost visitor numbers in the country.
A Thai delegation, led by tourism and sports minister Suwit Yodmanee, will attend the Pre-World Travel Mart Road Show 2006 which is taking place in Sweden and Denmark, reports news agency ETNA.
The Thai delegation's attendance at the event is part of the Tourism Authority of Thailand's marketing plan for 2007.
Dr Yodmanee has detailed plans to outline to tourists the current situation in Thailand following the bloodless military coup that took place in the country in September.
Alongside the tourism and sport minister will be delegates from the Thai Hotels Association and the Association of Thai Travel Agents.
The event will take place between 31 October and 2 November, with officials hopeful that the work they do in the region will generate a new wave of tourists.
