Rambo in Thailand
01 November 2006
The latest Rambo movie is to be filmed in Thailand, but officials in the country have asked that the makers avoid excessive violence.
Authorities are concerned that youngsters may be influenced by the film and they have also asked that every possible care is taken to ensure Thailand's environment is not damaged.
Much of the filming for Rambo IV: In the Serpent's Eye, will take place in Thailand's national parks and film makers have had to promise that they will not disrupt the environment, reports Reuters.
'We have told them that no real guns or bombs are allowed in the national park where they will be filming,' said Wanasiri Morakul, a director at the Thailand Film Office.
'Thailand has a law banning that and they've told us they will just imitate it.'
The film stars Sylvester Stallone as a retired warrior who comes out of retirement to track down a group of aid workers who go missing in Myanmar.
Officials in Thailand are hoping that by seeing Stallone enjoying his retirement in the country's beautiful surroundings, audiences may feel compelled to visit it for themselves.
'I think it will help boost the country's image as a relaxing and nice place to stay,' added Ms Morakul.
