Don't mention the b**b
16 November 2006

A man from Australia has been hit with a hefty fine after mentioning a four-letter word during a flight.

Riccardo Paulin was on a flight from Singapore to Indonesia and had been searching for the overhead locker in which to put his bag, reports the New Strait Times.

However, the 65-year-old retiree thought he would crack a joke as he asked the flight attendant for help and said: "Where do you keep the bomb?"

Mr Paulin was arrested and charged under United Nations anti-terrorism regulations and was forced to appear in a Singapore court.

The maximum punishment for the offence is a S$100,000 fine, five years in jail, or both.

During the case, Mr Paulin apologised for his actions and assured judges that his remark was merely a joke which had backfired.

He was ordered to pay a fine of S$10,000 and has been allowed to return home.
