Welsh email service generates £2m
21 November 2006
Tourist officials in north Wales are singing the praises of free web service which generates emails which it sends to customers.
Authorities say around £2m worth of business has been generated as a result of the service, which cost just £15,000 to get started, reports icwales.co.uk.
Tourism Partnership North Wales (TPNW) got the ball rolling by taking Kevin Jones idea and rolling it out on a large-scale.
Figures taken from accommodation alone suggest that as much as £2m has been generated from the award-winning service.
The idea is to keep businesses in touch with customers throughout the year so that they are at the forefront of people's minds when booking a holiday.
'Effectively, you create your own database by asking visitors if they wish to receive further information electronically,' said Mr Jones.
'It means that people are coming back to north Wales on a much more regular basis.
'Tourism is one of the biggest economic drivers in the region and we want individual businesses to increase their occupancy levels, it makes them more sustainable,' he added.
There are now plans in place to introduce the service to other regions in Wales.
