Abba museum in Sweden
29 November 2006
A museum which will contain the music, clothes and instruments of pop group Abba is to open in Sweden.
People taking a holiday in Stockholm will be able to learn all there is to know about the quartet who had hits such as Waterloo and Mamma Mia.
The museum is said to have the backing of all four members, with the doors set to open in 2008.
'It's great that someone feels like taking on our musical history and making it accessible,' said band members Agnetha Faltskog, Anni-Frid Reuss, Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus in a joint statement.
'We have a lot of confidence in Ewa and Ulf [the organisers] and we hope and believe that it will be a fun and groovy museum to visit.'
Organisers are hopeful that the museum will prove to be a hit and they say it will not simply be a tutorial through the life of the band.
Plans are in place for a fully interactive experience, with visitors invited to participate with all their sense.
The museum is the brainchild of Ewa Wigenheim-Westman and Ulf Westman, who got the idea after visiting the Beatles museum in Liverpool.
